Comprehensive STI testing now available at IFPA city centre clinic

– Release date: 07 January 2004

Ireland’s STI screening and treatment facilities are currently under huge strain because of the demand for services.

Waiting times for an appointment at the STI testing and treatment facility at St James’ Hospital in Dublin is up to seven weeks. If a person has an undetected STI, they may infect other partners as they await testing.

In recognition of the need for increased facilities, the IFPA has introduced full screening for STIs at its centre at 5-7, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1.

The cost for this private service will be €140 and includes swabs, blood tests and any necessary referrals or prescriptions. At present this service is not available on the GMS.

For further information please contact IFPA Cathal Brugha Street.
